The past week...ish

The past week has been pretty busy, but here are a few snapshots!

Mr McHobo made a yummy lamb dinner...

...work served up a super burger (side plate of salad and wedges not pictured)...

We had a beautiful Lebanese dinner, accompanied by an interesting yoghurt drink. It was dubious until a couple of old men from the next table saw our faces after we tried it, and called over to tell us that we had to shake it up before we drank it... it became interesting after that!

Saw (heard) Fra Elia in 30+ degree heat, and a church where people were packed like sardines, more were still trying to squeeze in, and others who had given up were sitting outside all around, listening through speakerphones...

Moved tables 3 times at a Japanese restaurant before the food arrived - the eel was soooo good!

...and finally, Hubble turned 60!!

Super Mario Wii

I own a Wii (a present) and some games (the usual - Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Zelda, etc etc) and I hardly ever play it.  Usually only play it when people are over, and even then, I tend to just turn it on and let the people have their fun.  But... Super Mario Wii is out... and I'm battling a huuuge temptation to go down to JB Hi Fi at lunchtime and check it out.  I think if I go down, I'll end up buying it!!!

Jeff Dunham

Went to see Jeff Dunham (aka Achmed the Dead Terrorist) on Sunday night - it was a sold out show and absolutely worth it!!!

Took a few photos just before his show started, and one which I snuck in, of Achmed in person!

These are the 5 main characters used by Jeff...
...the answer to the question is Peanut!!

Jeff and Walter - grumpy old men!!!

He started ventriloquist-ing (??) around year 7... scary looking dolls!!!

The start of the show...

...and it's Achmed live!!
Achmed was soooo cute and lovable, Peanut was absolutly crazy, Walter unsuprisingly inappropriate, Jose was dry, and all of it was soooo laughworthy. Achmed's ribs got stuck in his pelvis partway through his routine, and Jeff had to improvise while trying to fix it up - and ended up pulling off Achmed's arm... soooooo funny!!

But the best bit came at the end when the audience joined in, yelling out the punchlines to Bubba J's parts, and Jeff playing along with it. I don't think I've laughed that much in a loooong loooong time!!

So glad we managed to get tickets, and that Mr McHobo, Miss Happy, Miss Smatie and Mr K were all able to come along and enjoy it!! (and meeting up at Pepper Lunch by accident was good too!!)

More Baklava!!!

We went back to the baklava place last Weds, and I took some more photos... yummy!!!

Here's part of the front of the store... couldn't get a bigger shot without taking it from across the road...

This is one type of baklava... there are different shapes, each with different proportion of nuts and pastry...

This is another shape of baklava - I like this one more!

This is the rest of the store, full of prepacked cookies and sweets. Apparently they're really popular as gifts, and people take these into hospital to visit the sick instead of flowers!

This is the sugar syrup that they drizzle over some of the desserts (though not the baklava):

And this is what we bought!! Shared it among sooo many people! Yuuuuum!
